Bye Bye 2011!!

2011 has just flown in, but I am tres excited for 2012.. Exciting editorial feature in a bridal magazine is a nice way to start the year.. I can't believe B Ford has only been going a year, I have enjoyed every bit of it most of all making mistakes and learning from them..

I hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas and has a Promising New Year..

Today I am loving.. Hairy Socks

I just came across this amazing jewellery collection by 'Hairy Socks' designed by visual artist Ruta Kiskyte. Kiskyte uses polymer clay and real hair in her designs.. I think her collections are awesome with a real quirky twist to every day items.. I thought I would share a few of my favourite pieces from Hairy Socks..

The Wedding Journal Show 2011

Well we completed the Wedding Journal Show in The Kings Hall in Belfast!! Yay..        I have been neglecting my blog the past week or so as I was super busy getting organised for the show.. I am now back on track and want to share my experience at   B Ford's first big fair..

I shared the stand with Sharon Hay of Innocent Chaos Jewellery who makes awesome bridal bouquets out of vintage brooches and really cute jewellery. Sharon and I first met at uni studying textiles and have been buddies ever since.. We have collaborated on several occasions as we feel both our products work well together.. : )

On Thursday we had to set up our stand something I thought would only take a couple of hours max.. Boy was I wrong.... It started off with an error on Sharon's side of our A6 postcards.. Oops.. # Note to self; proof, proof, proof check..

We had a double sided A6 postcards with an image of Innocent Chaos on one side and      B Ford on the other.. I will post images. I was very impressed by the design and print which was by Kaizen Print in Belfast..

With a delay at the printers upon arrival at The Kings Hall we realised there was no stand/space for Innocent Chaos/ B Ford... : ( There was a mix up with another company and ourselves and the office thought we had cancelled.. The couple of hours I now thought that we would have been set up was now consumed by Sharon and I waiting to get a stand sorted.. Eventually we were provided with a stand twice the size... Hurray!! #worth the wait

After a lot of waiting around we got straight to work setting our products and equipment up.. Within our stand we tried to get it to represent both our companies as much as possible by taking a lot of consideration into everything from where our products would be placed to the smaller intricate props.. I feel we both did a good job at doing so..

After raiding Sharon's house to gather up last minute props we were read to rock on Friday at 3pm for the opening of the show..

As you can see below Miss Hay and I were slightly gitty and thought we would do a little bit of posing..

Yay!! We completed the Wedding Journal Show 2011... Sharon striking a little pose below.. It was a crazy busy weekend especially on Sunday, I had so much fun and learnt an awful lot. Sharon and I met so many lovely people and also other exhibitors.

Bannon and McCabe Photography were our next door neighbours at the show and were always on hand to keep Sharon and myself entertained... Check them out they are awesome guys who are very talented..

Of Course the fabulous Jennifer Ireland Make Up Artist.. Jennifer was doing demonstrations on the Style Stage several times a day throughout the duration of the show...

I find i-D to be truely inspiring as an artistic aspect, I simply can not get enough and came across the following issues soon to be released and had to share!!

In Dreams and Aspirations Issue they encourage you to dream big. After all, the best way to predict the future is to create it. In this issue big dreams get big results! I like the sound of that...

Christian Louboutin: The Book

Calling all you shoe junkies!! Christian Louboutin is soon to release his first book (appropriately titled Christian Louboutin), featuring his vast range of designs from the dramatic, to the classic, to the iconic. The book will include still-life photography (highlighting, of course, the shoes) and even some pop-up pages!

But the book will also introduce us to “the man behind the shoes,” telling of Louboutin’s life and even giving us a look inside his homes in Paris and Luxor (this I’d love to see).

The only drawback? This book rings up at about 100 squid. Worth it?

Christian Louboutin is available for pre-order now on Amazon.com and will be released on October 25, 2011.

We are super excited to have been asked to take part in there Winter Bridal shoot which was on Sunday 18th September.. We got a sneek preview of the shoot last night, and I have to say I am really excited to see more of the images.. So stay tuned, hopefully we will see them soon... : )

St Arthur's Day 2011

With the highly anticipated St Arthur's Day nearly upon us everyone is patiently waiting the breaking news of the 'special guest' my guess is... Paolo Nutini.. But we shall wait and see.

For all you out there who have not really heard about St Arthur's Day before:

Arthur's Day refers to a series of music events which were first organised in 2009 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Guinness brewing company by its owner Diageo plc.

Those events took place internationally in the cities of Dublin, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, New York and Yaoundé on 24 September 2009. The event was broadcast internationally on Sky TV, ITV2 and DirecTV.^[1] €6 million has been pledged to the Arthur Guinness Fund.

The celebration has been endorsed by several high-profile names, such as rock star-turned political activist Bob Geldof, director and screenwriter Guy Ritchie, footballer and Guinness football ambassador for Africa Michael Essien and British celebrities such as Peter Crouch, Sophie Dahl.

Guinness drinkers are expected to raise a glass to the memory of Arthur Guinness at 17:59 (5:59pm), a reference to 1759, the year the Guinness Brewery was established..An 82c stamp of an Arthur Guinness portrait was also released by An Post to commemorate the anniversary.

Arthur's Day 2010 took place on 23 September.

The line up for Belfast so far is: The Enemy, Horslips, Kelis, Ash, DJ Fresh and Cashier No9 and possibly more...

The Wedding Journal Show, Belfast

B Ford will have a stand at the The Wedding Journal Show in The Kings Hall in Belfast it is from the 30th September until the 3rd October.. We are super excited although lots of preparation still to be done. B Ford will be collaborating on a stand with the awesome Sharon Hay of Innocent Chaos who makes amazing bridal bouquets made up of vintage brooches where you can pick your own style, colour theme or even encorporate some of your family members brooches.. I love the idea that you can cherish it forever and keep it close to your heart especially if you use sentimental items.

We are really looking forward to it and if you are at the show please come and say Hi!!!

NAHM

I have to admit I am a lover of all the cheesy reality American Shows, one of which is/was The MTV Reality Show 'Rich Girls' which starred Ally Hilfiger daughter of fashion mogel Tommy and also her then-bestfriend Jamie Gleicher. 

So when the show ended Ally entered rehab and I always wondered what she was doing...

To my shock and excitement I came across NAHM. Nary Manivong and Alexandria Hilfiger are the design duo behind NAHM. NAHM representing the first and last initials of the designers’ names and also translates to water in Laotian, Nary’s ancestral language.

The focus of their design collaboration is the shirtdress, with the NAHM collection finding inspiration in men’s shirting details combined with feminine accents, fine fabrics and inventive silhouettes.

I have to say I absolutely lurvveee the S/S 2012 Collection.. You can find a few of my favourites... : )
